Boiled peanuts are a favorite local snack. Raw, green peanuts are boiled in salty water and served hot. The mushy and briny taste may not appeal to everyone upon first taste, but boiled peanuts are enjoyed by many and it is easy to acquire the taste. Just don't eat the hull. Leftover boiled peanuts should be kept in the refrigerator, as they do not keep well at room temperature.

Hardy Farms just southeast of Hawkinsville sells some of the best boiled peanuts. Hardy Farms boiled peanuts are of good quality and not too salty. Every August when their new peanut crop is available, Hardy Farms open peanut stands around Central Georgia to sell their newly harvested peanuts. You can buy their peanuts already boiled and ready to eat or buy fresh green peanuts to cook later at home.

Hardy Farms uses only freshly harvested green peanuts to prepare boiled peanuts at their peanut stands. The harvest is from August through October. When the peanut harvest is over, their peanut stands disappear until the next years harvest.

Sometimes the Hardy Farms peanut stands will open a few days early in late July and they often stay open for a few days into November if the harvest allows.
